I Melted Under Pressure!

I said I wasn’t going to buy anymore books for the rest of this year, but I cannot pass up good deals! I mentioned earlier that the Book Depository is having a special on 50 new books every 30 minutes for 25 hours. Of course, I didn’t buy any of THOSE books (so me). I noticed that very popular books in the YA community were extremely cheap, so I decided to buy the two that I’ve been hearing rave reviews about.

So I bought…

Shatter Me

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi! ($8.34) I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book, so I’m hoping it lives up to the hype… in my eyes. I understand it is about a girl with a lethal touch. The novel is a dystopian thriller. I enjoy reading thrillers, so I hope I enjoy this book.  I am aware of the Shatter Me series. I want to like this book to want to read the other books.

The next book I bought is….

shadow and bone

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Barduco! ($5.30) From the cover I think the setting may be Russia. …it looks Arabian as well. I can’t wait to find out! I don’t read fantasy/adventure novels at all, so this is my first one. It is the first book of the Grisha trilogy. The cover looks interesting, so I hope the book is interesting as well.

I bought both copies in paperback. They should be shipping in three business days, so I should get them in a week or two… more than likely two. I don’t know when I will be able to read these, but hopefully I will get to them before the year is over. They just may be on my August reading list!

If you’ve read any of these books, please comment below! I would love to know what you think about them.

I Have Book Mail! #2

I have finally received my Book Outlet order! I ordered a few books when they had 50 science fiction titles for 50% off promotion. I am slowly becoming a fan of science fiction novels, so I decided to grab the opportunity. I watch science fiction movies, but never thought of reading the genre until now. So, let me tell you what I have!

1. There Once Lived A Girl Who Seduced Her Sister’s Husband, and He Hanged Himself. Love Stories by Ludmilla Petrushevskaya and translated by Anna Summers. This one isn’t science fiction, but it was in my cart for a while and I wanted to get it with this order! I’ve been wanting to read this book for while. I know there are a few other books in the series and if I like her style of writing, I will eventually collect them all.

2. Eve and Adam by Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate. I found this book while browsing through their site and if I remember correctly, I read that it is a good book to read. I downloaded and read the prequel and I loved it, so I can’t wait to read the full length novel.

3. Revolution 19 by Gregg Rosenblum. I haven’t read or heard too much about this book. I read the synopsis and I thought it would be interesting. It was in the section 50/50, so why not? It will be a book I’ll grab off my bookshelf when I am looking for something short to read.

4. The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma. Again, I don’t know too much about this book. It was in the 50/50 section and I know many people who have read this book and liked it. It’s a really thick book. It’s between 400-500 pages just by looking at it. …It is 611 pages, to be exact (I was close). This is a book that I would read while I’m reading other books. It’s too long to devote all of my time to. I don’t like the condition of this book. Paper is separating from the cover. It looks like a scratch and dent, but was not specified as such. I am not pleased with the condition!

5. Tempest: Time Will Tear Them Apart by Julie Cross. I think this one had to be the most random book I ordered. Random because I can’t really tell what it is about by the cover. It looks like they’re getting sucked apart in some time warp.. And I only know that because of the title.

As soon as I finish them, I will have a review. I did get an order before I got this one. I may post it on a later date or somehow fit it into a future post about it, but not really. If you’ve read any of these books or heard anything about them, feel free to comment! And I’m always open to book suggestions.

I Have Book Mail!

I have book mail!

I have JUST received.. well. I JUST checked my mailbox on my way to my apartment after a long day of work and I have mail! Not just any mail, people! I have ROYAL mail. 🙂 I don’t know how I should feel about getting my first package through the royal mail. I feel so.. royal. *cues magical horns* *curtsies*

But! To get to the point. I received a book that I’ve been wanting to read for a long time and it is a book I’m sure you’ve heard about. I don’t want to start bragging about it now because I haven’t read it yet. I don’t want to get so excited about the book and after reading I have to retract everything I said. That would be so uncool. So…..

Panic

I have Panic. I am literally boiling over with excitement. I cannot wait to read this book. I’ve heard so many good things about it! From what I’ve been hearing, this book is basically about a group of teenagers who play a maybe deadly…. scary…. game to win money. That’s all I know about it.

I bought this book from The Book Depository because it was the cheapest on their site. It costs $12.04. There is free shipping and you will get in about a week and a few days. I live in Louisiana, so it didn’t take that long considering I live in the deep south. I ordered this book on June 6th and I just got it today, June 20th. It will take a while.

If you have read Panic, let me know how you feel about it (without any spoilers, please). I am absolutely thrilled. I don’t know when I will get to this book because I have so many other books to read and review before this book. *sigh* As soon as I finish it, I will post a review.
